Jordan's King Replaces PM, Intel Chief

King ‘Abdullah II of Jordan has replaced Prime Minister Ma‘aruf Bakhit with ‘Awn Khaswaneh, after a majority of Parliament called for a change. Khasawneh has been serving on the International Court of Justice in the Hague, and is considered a liberal and reformer.. (The King had previously promised to reform the government to make the Prime Minister more res0ponsible to Parliament.) He has also replaced the head of the country's intelligence agency, the Mukhabarat, Faisal al-Shoubaki. More analysis here.
